Hummingbird Comes In The House For Dinner #5

Cuenca, Ecuador May 3, 2012. Well, I am truly addicted to the hummers. I have glued the crack in the top of the feeder base with the flowers on it, then glued that to the base below that holds the nectar. The nectar is a 1/3 cane sugar/water solution that they seem to like. Now this little rig doesn't leak. I have set this feeder on some racking inside the window as we don't have enough windowsill on the inside for it to rest. I use up a whole battery per session because this involves a lot of waiting and guessing when they may appear. The routine that has been working is to continuously listen for their distinctive cheep cheep cheep cheep to know when they are sitting in a tree or on the wire nearby. When the cheeping stops, I quickly grab my camera, turn it on, focus and zoom on the upper window frame, hold the shutter ½ way and swing into position. The silence means they are usually in flight to a nearby flower for a feast. Maybe one in eight trips is to my phony display! of flowers. If they don't show up within about 15 seconds then they have chosen another flower. I now have no doubt whatsoever that I could get them to come right to my hand but the logistics are too hard. I would need another person. I am just grateful for the opportunity to interact with nature. Enjoy the videos.

I didn't think I could muster up enough composure in two days. A few weeks sure . . . but forty-eight hours, eh. And just when I didn't think my worries would grow any larger than they had, my nightmares threatened to kill me. If you could die in your dreams, would you die for real? `~`~` I had been running through "The Spring Fields". The sun was shining brightly, and the day was just perfect. A beautiful, white gown was slipped over me, flowing caressly in the wind as my feet barely touched the ground as they took me towards the sun. I felt so at peace. Then, images of Daniel began to flash before me, his beautiful face more of a masterpiece than the brilliant sun. I felt so warm and loved and free and joyful. The feeling was almost to astounding; I felt as though I didn't even deserve to be feeling it. Th! en, almost as if the beautiful day had read my rambling mind, a flash of lightening lit the sky, and soon everything was dark. Dark clouds swarmed the sky and thunder rumbled loudly. My beautiful gown had been torn and shredded, and was frighteningly smeared with blood. The ground of soft grass and flowers had been been replaced with a cracked ground that spat fire in numerous spots. And then I realized, I had stopped running for enjoyment. This rack thing has been hanging around for at least a decade, going from one pile to another. I would almost throw it out but think to myself... no, I may use it someday. Someday has finally arrived and I am pleased with the results.

There are few, if any, good sources that give an impression of how Liszt really sounded from the 1820s. Carl Czerny claimed Liszt was a natural who played according to feeling, and reviews of his concerts especially praise the brilliance, strength and precision in his playing. At least one also mentions his ability to keep absolute tempo, which may be due to his father's insistence that he practice with a metronome.[citation needed] His repertoire at this time consisted primarily of pieces in the style of the brilliant Viennese school, such as concertos by Hummel and works by his former teacher Czerny, and his concerts often included a chance for the boy to display his prowess in improvisation.
